Chawli che usal


Recipe Type: Indian                            Yield: 6
Preparation Time: 10 mins        Soaking Time: 5h        Cooking Time: 25 mins

Ingredients:
1 cups of black-eyed peas (chawli)
2 onion
2 tomatoes
1/2 tsp of cumin powder
1/4 tsp of coriander powder
1 tsp of chilly powder
1/2 tsp of asafoetida
1/4 cup of grated coconut
1 tsp of salt
1/4 cup of chopped coriander leaves
3 cups of water
2 tsp of oil
1/4 tsp of turmeric powder

Method:
1. Soak 1 cup of black-eyed peas for 5 hours. Put soaked black-eyed peas, 2 cups of water and 1/2 tsp of salt cook in pressure cooker.
2. Grind grated coconut with water.
3. Heat a sauce pan. Add oil, chopped onion cook till it becomes transparent.


4. Now put chopped tomatoes and chopped coriander leaves. Cook for 2 mins.

5. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, asafoetida, salt, chilly powder, turmeric powder and ground
coconut. Mix well. Fry for 3 mins.

6. Now put 1 cup of water and cooked black-eyed peas. Mix well. Cook for 10 more mins.
7. Finally garnish it with coriander leaves.
