Ingredients :
1 cup basmati rice (soaked for 20 mins)
2 and 1/4 cups water
salt
2 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp garam masala
1 tomato
2 potatoes
1 tsp chilly powder
1tsp cumin-coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida
2 tbsp clarified butter
2 green chilies
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp black cumin seeds
2 black cardamom
1 anise
small cinnamon stick
1 tsp grated ginger
1 grated garlic pod (optional)
coriander leaves (garnish)
Method :
1. Heat a pan. Add clarified butter. Put cumin seeds, black cumin seeds, anise, black cardamom, cinnamon stick, chopped garlic and slit opened green chilies. Fry for few seconds.
2. Now add chopped potatoes and chopped tomato. Fry for 2 minutes.
3. Pour 1/4 cup of water. Cover pan with a lid. Cook for 5 mins.
4. Now add all remaining ingredients and cook until rice is cooked.
5. Garnish with coriander leaves.
6. Serve with raita.
