Ingredients:
1/2 cup grated coconut
3 green chilies
1 tsp of cumin seeds
1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
4 curry leaves
2 tsp of oil
2 tsp split Bengal gram (chana dal)
2 tsp split Bengal gram (chana dal)
10 ash gourd (winter melon) pieces
1 1/2 cups of buttermilk
1 tsp of salt
pinch of turmeric powder

1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp black lentils

Method:
1. Grind grated coconut, green chilly, 1 tbsp water and 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds. Make a fine paste.
2. Heat a sauce pan. Pour ground masala, 1/4 cup of water, salt and ash gourd pieces. Cook until ash gourd is done. Switch off gas. Allow to cool.
3. Heat another sauce pan. Add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, black lentils, curry leaves, turmeric powder and chana dal for tempering.
4. Now pour buttermilk and tempered ingredients into the pan containing cooked ash gourd pan. Mix well.
