Chitrana




Recipe Type : Indian                                                                    Yield : 3
Preparation Time : 5 mins                                                           Cooking Time : 25 mins

Ingredients:
1/2 cup rice
water
2 tsp chanadal (yellow split peas)
2 tsp coriander seeds
7 black peppercorns
1 tsp black sesame
4 roasted dry red chilies
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1/4 tsp tamarind paste
1 tbsp fresh coconut
10 peanuts
3/4 tsp salt
3 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
15 curry leaves
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

Method:
1. Cook rice and keep aside.
2. Dry roast chanadal, black peppercorns, coriander seeds and black sesame seeds.


3. Grind to make powder. Don't add water. Finally add coconut, turmeric powder, asafoetida, tamarind paste and dry roasted chilies. Grind again.


4. Heat a pan. Pour oil. Add mustard, peanuts and curry leaves for tempering.


5. Now put ground masala, salt and fry for 3 mins.


6. Add cooked rice. Mix well. Cook for 5 mins.



7. Garnish with coriander leaves.
