Haldi panna tavse idli/ Turmeric leaves cucumber idli


Recipe Type : Indian                                                         Yield: 12 ' idli's
Preparation Time: 15 mins                                               Cooking Time : 15 mins

Ingredients:
2 cups of semolina (rawa)
1 and 1/2 tsp of salt (to taste)
1and 1/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup water
3 tsp oil or clarified butter (ghee)
1 cup grated cucumber
5 turmeric leaves
1/2 inch ginger
2 green chilies
1 tbsp jaggery powder or 3 tsp sugar (optional)

Method:
1. In a bowl add buttermilk, salt, sugar, grated cucumber, grated ginger, grated chillies, water and semolina. Mix well. Keep it aside for 10 mins. No fermentation is required.




2. Grease idli molds with oil or clarified butter (ghee).
3. Place a piece of turmeric leaves in each idli molds.
4. Fill batter into the idli molds.


5. Place turmeric leaves on top of each idli batter.


6. Heat idli cooker with water.
7. Steam for 15 mins.


8. After steaming idlis, remove turmeric leaves.
9. Serve hot idlis with clarified butter.
